In an open field an AI wanders; on a track it runs

A big request with no limits gets a confident answer that knows nothing about you, and it hands the work back to you.

Three lessons from this class:

  • An AI organises; you think: it answered a whole month of marketing with no facts about the business, because it arranges words rather than checks them.
  • A track beats a wish: one idea, one audience and one limit gave three clear versions you can compare.
  • Short and clear saves money: the shorter, clearer request used fewer words and wasted less of a paid plan.

Chris Mercer ran the same job twice, live, in a private browser window.

The first request asked for a month of posts, videos, emails and numbers, all at once. It came back confident and generic.

The second gave one idea, one audience and one limit. It came back as three clear versions of the same idea.

In his words: "When you give it a track, it runs."
