Saturday School recap: keep each topic in one place
Keep each topic's notes in one place, so your AI stops digging through old chats.
- Pick a topic you come back to often. List every chat, file or project with notes on it.
- Make the most complete one the main place.
- In every other place, add: "Main notes for [topic] are in [main place]." In old chats, send it as a new message; ignore any reply.
What happened
- Mercer, who teaches the class, held up a US nickel: Thomas Jefferson on the front, his house on the back, but one coin (the US Mint confirms both). Two notes on one topic are like that: two sides of one thing. He said: "I think people miss the coin."
- He compared notes spread over many chats to cinnamon stirred into sugar. Picking it back out takes your AI time, and costs you money.
- In the app where he keeps his projects, he found two notes on one topic, kept the fuller one, and added a line to the other saying where it is.
Want help? Paste this into a new chat, replace each [bracket], and send it:
Topic: [your topic].
Notes are in: [your list].
Main place: [the most complete one].
Write the line to add to each other place.
